Karoline Varin-Jarkowski

Karoline Varin-Jarkowski was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland and moved to Canada in 1985. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Waterloo and along with solo shows, has participated in juried exhibitions in Ontario and abroad. She is a painter and creates mixed media book assemblages.

She is interested in our conceptions of time and place and as such question the definition of reality. The definition of time and place is different for a child, an elderly, for the mentally and terminally ill. The conceptions of reality extend into how we view our subconscious and our beliefs about mortality and spirituality. She is continually exploring in her works: death and the passage of time.

Karoline currently resides and works in Waterloo.
